Picture this… You’ve just woken up from one of the best night’s sleep of your life. You look out of your window at Koza Cave Hotel to see hundreds of hot air balloons floating in the pastel pink sky. It’s like something out of a fairytale. It feels like a once-in-a-lifetime experience. However, this isn’t a rare occasion. You’re in Cappadocia, Turkey where hot air balloons fly daily during sunrise and you’re staying at the best hotel in the area.
Koza Cave Hotel is without a doubt worth the price tag (and we will talk about that later). But don’t just take my word for it. If you have a look at their Instagram page, you can tell that it’s a well-loved hotel by their many followers and comments on their posts. You can also get a vibe of how stunning the hotel is just from the photos they share.

Koza Cave Hotel Review, Cappadocia: Is it worth the hype?
In this post, I will share a complete review of Koza Cave Hotel including my opinion on the room, comfort, facilities and much more. Read ahead if you are considering whether or not you should book a stay at this Insta-famous hotel in Cappadocia!
How to get to Koza Cave Hotel
The hotel is situated right in the heart of Göreme, perched upon a hill. There are a number of ways to get there including airport transfers, taxis or hiring a rental car.
Airport transfer
Booking a transfer service from the airport to the hotel makes everything that bit simpler. After disembarking from your flight, you will pass passport control (depending on where you travelled from), pick up your baggage and head outside. There, someone will be holding a sign with your name (and perhaps other passengers) before taking you to the vehicle to drive you to the hotel.
This is an easy option as you don’t need to worry about booking a taxi upon arrival or navigating an unknown town.
Koza Cave Hotel have an offer where you can take advantage of a free one-way airport transfer if you book a two-night stay directly on their website. This is exactly the option that I went for.
Taxi
Next up, another great way to get to the hotel is to book a taxi. This is perhaps the most time-efficient option as you will go from door to door. This means you won’t need to stop at a number of hotels before arriving which is pretty common with airport transfers in town.
To book a taxi from the airport to the hotel, consider calling the following taxi companies:
- Goreme Cappadocia Taxi
- Taxi Cappadocia
- Cappataxi
Hire a rental car
If you are looking to explore more of the local areas and don’t want to rely on a taxi, hiring a car is a great option. Car rentals in the region of Cappadocia start from around 35 EUR a day depending on the type of car you go for.
Important note: Don’t forget that there are two airports in Cappadocia. The most popular is Nevsehir Airport, but flights also run to and from Kayseri Airport. When booking transportation, ensure you book it to pick you up from the correct airport you will be landing at.
Checking in to Koza Cave Hotel
If you’re the kind of person who loves warm welcomes (I mean, who doesn’t right?) then Koza Cave Hotel has your back. Upon arrival, you will be greeted by whichever friendly staff member is manning the reception desk. Next, you will hand over documentation for reservation purposes and arrange payment if you have not already paid.
Afterwards, you will be taken to your chosen suite. Once you have dropped your bags into your room, you will be shown around the hotel. This includes the breakfast room and the insta-famous rooftop.
My experience of checking in to the hotel was truly remarkable as I received the most AMAZING surprise ever. Koza Cave Hotel very kindly upgraded me from the twin room (the cheapest room in the hotel) to the KING SUITE (aka the best room the have).
Now I’m not sure if this is because it was my birthday, because my journey into Cappadocia was particularly stressful or just out of the kindness of their hearts… However, I was truly blown away. In fact, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t do a happy dance and rang my Grandparents with a “you will never guess what just happened to me” opening…
Anyway, the point is, no matter which room you are staying in, you will not be disappointed. You will be welcomed into this incredible family-run hotel with open arms and friendly hello’s from the resident cats… Yes, there are cats. Can this place get any better?

What type of room can I book at Koza Cave Hotel?
Now, going back to the rooms. There are several to choose from and whichever one you go for will depend on the number of travellers as well as budget. The standard twin or double rooms are ideal if you are hoping to keep costs as low as possible and are either travelling alone (like me) or as a pair.
Alternatively, you could book the junior suite, the cave suite, the deluxe suite or the king suite. All suites sleep two people except the king suite which can sleep three.
No matter where you stay, you will be treated to a unique experience staying in a beautifully decorated cave suite in the heart of Cappadocia, Turkey. If that isn’t something to add to your bucket list, I’m not sure what is!
The King Suite at Cappadocia’s most famous hotel
If you are lucky enough to reserve a stay in the king suite, prepare to be blown away. Trust me when I say that this is the best hotel room that I have stayed in to date and I travel A LOT.
As you open the door to your room, you will enter the living area. This space consists of a sofa, a table (with some tasty Turkish treats), a coffee/ tea making station and some unique decor pieces including a fab Turkish rug that I really wanted to take home with me. It offers a really cosy feel, perfect for a morning cuppa.
Next up, we’ve got the bathroom. This space boasts a large bath with a spa tub, sink, toilet, vanity area with a large mirror, a hairdryer and free toiletries. Furthermore, you will also find robes and slippers for each guest to enjoy at the end of each day.
Moving upstairs, you will come to the first floor. This floor has a single bed suitable for one person with a bedside table and a space to hang your clothes. This floor also leads to your own private balcony that overlooks views of the impressive Cappadocia landscapes. In my opinion, this is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a glass of wine or two.
Heading back onto the top floor of the fairy chimney, you will find a seating area and a large double bed. This area also boasts air conditioning and charming traditional covers on the bed. However, the best part is the view. Looking out of the window, you can admire the most fantastic views of Goreme.
In the morning, you won’t even need to leave your bed to watch as over 100 hot air balloons fly high into the sky during sunrise. You could swerve the rooftop for your very own private viewing, tea (or coffee) in hand then doze of back to sleep afterwards for an hour or two. Doesn’t that sound so blissful?
What is a cave hotel and why are they popular in Cappadocia?
A cave hotel is a hotel that is situated inside the fairy chimneys and rock formations of Cappadocia. They are well-known in in this region of Turkey due to their interesting history and authentic style. In Cappadocia, these caves were formed by many years of erosion caused mostly by floods in the local area.
Staying in a cave hotel in Cappadocia is a must. However, if Koza Cave Hotel is outside of your budget, don’t fret. There are many other cave hotels in town including the likes of Zeus Cave Suites. Stay tuned for another blog post all about the very best cave hotels in Cappadocia (coming soon).
What is the best thing about Koza Cave Hotel?
Koza Cave Hotel is the highest rooftop hotel in town and boasts one of the most amazing views in the area. This means that as the balloons fly up into the sky around sunrise, guests of the hotel get to enjoy the best viewpoint on offer. In fact, even I made the effort to wake up early every morning and I am NOT a morning person.
As well as the fab views, the gorgeous cushions and rugs make ideal props for all your holiday snaps (and yes, you NEED to take some photos here).
Waking up at the crack of dawn whilst on holiday may not seem like your idea of fun, but trust me when I say that it is worth it. Plus, you can always head back down to bed afterwards.
Facilities and comfort
In terms of facilities, you will have everything you need for a great stay.
Air Conditioning: If you are travelling in the peak of Summer, you will be happy to know that each cave suite has an air conditioning unit to keep you cool and comfortable during your stay.
Wifi Connection: The hotel has a fantastic wifi connection. However, the only place it doesn’t have the best signal is on the terrace. Often, I found myself having to head into the breakfast room if I needed to use the wifi. Despite this, it didn’t really create a problem.
Iron: You have access to an iron throughout your stay which I used on multiple occasions with no issues.
Comfort-wise, Koza Cave Hotel has a very homely feel. The decor will make you feel extremely relaxed and calm. Furthermore, the bed is comfortable and makes it easy to have a fab sleep. There are no complaints at all when it comes to comfort at this amazing hotel.
The staff
As I’ve already discussed above, the staff go above and beyond to make your stay at the hotel a memorable one. The hotel is a family-run hotel which shows in the way they treat their guests.
In fact, one of the staff members invited me to enjoy a bottle of wine and some cheese on the terrace once I had checked in. As I was travelling alone on my Birthday, I thought this was a really sweet touch. Their friendly approach towards guests is truly charming and really made me keen to return again and again!
Is breakfast free at Koza Cave Hotel?
Of course. All guests staying at the hotel will benefit from a large breakfast buffet. This style of breakfast allows you to enjoy as much food as you’d like. This is ideal as you can fill up before a jam-packed day of exploring.
They serve up a large variety of dishes including pancakes, fruit, dried fruit, Turkish desserts, pastries and cereal. In terms of drinks, you can choose from Turkish tea, coffee or fresh fruit juices. Afterwards, you will feel well-fed for a day of tours and sightseeing. Perfect!
Activities and excursions
Would you like to get involved in some of the best things to do in Cappadocia? I don’t blame you! There are a large variety of tours, excursions and activities to enjoy during your visit. These include things like horse riding through the valleys, hot air ballooning, photography tours and so much more.
If this is something you are interested in, the hotel is happy to help you book these tours and excursions. All you need to do is head to reception to discuss your interests!
Dusk By Koza Rooftop Bar
Fancy a rooftop cocktail on the terrace? Well, if you are visiting during peak season, the hotel bar will be open for business between 5pm and 10pm. This gives you the opportunity to enjoy a delicious cocktail (or five) while admiring the unique landscape of Cappadocia as the sun sets.
The resident cats… How cute!
If you’re a cat lover, you’ll be happy to know that Koza Cave Hotel has two resident cats. Although they can be a little sneaky and try and steal your breakfast, they are extremely cute and friendly all the same!
How much does it cost to stay at Koza Cave Hotel?
After reading this post, you perhaps won’t be surprised to learn that staying at Koza Cave Hotel does not come cheap. At least for travellers who tend to travel on a budget. In fact, just a one-night stay in the hotel’s cheapest room averages at around 157 EUR. If you want to stay in the king suite, expect to pay upwards of 675 EUR.
Despite the hefty price tag, it’s worth noting that staying at Koza Cave Hotel is a truly incredible experience worth every penny. Would I have stayed there if it wasn’t my birthday treat to myself? Maybe not. However, I don’t regret the money I spent one bit. In fact, I’m glad I did it and I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
Note: All prices are subject to change. Make sure you check prices upon booking.
