Hi and welcome to Pack and Paint! I’m Lauren, a 24-year-old textile designer from Manchester, UK who has a huge passion for art, textiles and travelling the world.
From a young age, I have always loved to travel and I have always been creative. After leaving school, I studied Art and Design at college before heading to university for three years to study Textiles and Surface Design. It was during my time at university that I started to travel more regularly, using my income from my part-time job in retail to travel as much as I could while also studying for my degree. Each time I visited a new city, I became more obsessed with travel.
WHY DID I CALL MY BLOG PACK AND PAINT?
Not only do I find exploring a new city incredibly exciting, but travel also inspires my art and design work. I often spend my free time creating paintings or textile art that have been inspired by my travels around the globe. I started Pack and Paint to not only document my adventures around the world (and to share tips) but to also share my creative side – hence the name of this blog.
MY LOVE OF SOLO TRAVEL AND WHY I STARTED PACK AND PAINT
From the age of 18, I was travelling all over the UK solo to attend gigs. It wasn’t until I graduated from university in 2016 that I embarked on my first solo adventure overseas to Barcelona for five days of sun, sightseeing and sangria. Although it isn’t always easy, I fell in love with solo travel and the freedom it gave me. Since then, I have travelled to the USA, Morocco and all over Europe as a solo female traveller.
Solo travel can be challenging, but it can also be one of the most rewarding things you will ever do. I started Pack and Paint to inspire others to take the plunge to travel solo, get creative and do whatever it is that they love. After all, life is too short to be anything but happy.
