How to get to Treehouse Hostel from Riga Airport
Conveniently, the airport in Riga is situated extremely close to the city’s old town where the hostel is located. There are a number of options to get from A to B, including:
Public Transportation
By far the cheapest way to get from Riga airport to the old town district is to catch the bus. The airport is very well connected to the city with buses running up to six times an hour.
The bus stop at Riga airport is just a short walk from the airport’s exit. There are ticket machines located at all bus stops in the city. This makes it super easy to purchase your ticket before jumping on the bus. Just be aware that none of these machines accepts contactless payments.
The journey from Riga airport to Old Town takes approximately 25 minutes on the bus followed by a short 10-minute walk. You will then spot Tree House Hostel tucked away next to a nightclub.
Taxi
If you arrive in the city late at night or into the early hours, you will most likely need to get a taxi into the city. If this is the case, your best option is to download Bolt. Typically, the journey will cost between €6-7 and takes approximately 15 minutes.
Airport Transfer
If you’d prefer to have something pre-arranged, your best bet is to book an airport transfer. Again, the journey will take around 15 minutes and while you won’t have to wait around, this is more expensive than booking a Bolt.
Checking into Treehouse Hostel in Riga, Latvia
Upon arrival, you need to call up to the 4th floor. The staff member on duty will then buzz you through the main door where you can then either take the stairs or elevator to the correct level. At the doors of the hostel, you’ll be asked to remove your shoes. The hostel workers ask that you do not wear shoes in the common areas.
After checking in, you’ll be shown around the hostel before being left to settle in. There is a lounge area, kitchen, bathrooms, showers and rooms of different capacities. There are also some spaces to relax, including a mini library with a small table (ideal for digital nomads).
What type of room can I book at Treehouse Hostel?
The majority of the rooms at Treehouse Hostel are dorm rooms. They vary in size from 6-bed to 14-bed dorms. However, there are also other options if you’d prefer more privacy.
In terms of private rooms, there is a twin room and a double room that sleeps two people. There is also a family room that sleeps four, so if you are travelling with a group of friends, this could be a great option.
Facilities and Comfort
In terms of comfort, the hostel is fantastic. There are cosy spots to relax with a book, soft beds and a lovely atmosphere in the shared areas that make it a perfect spot to chill out after a day of sightseeing.
Another one of the things that stood out to me was the tray of toiletries and hair tools that were free to use for guests. It’s a really nice touch for travellers who may have forgotten to pack must-haves or just wants to spruce up their hair!
For budget travellers wanting to save some money, there is also a fully equipped kitchen that makes it super easy to whip up a quick meal!
Lastly, the hostel has a great wifi connection. I had no issues at all during my stay!
The staff
During my stay at the hostel, I had the opportunity to meet the owner. He was incredibly friendly and welcoming, just like the rest of the staff were! They are happy to assist with any questions, so don’t be afraid to ask away.

The very best thing about Treehouse Hostel is the location. Situated right in the heart of the old town, you can reach many of the top sights within 15 minutes by foot! This makes it very easy to explore Riga without spending a lot of money on public transport. In fact, I didn’t spend a dime on transportation aside from when I travelled to and from the airport.
What time is check-in and check-out?
Checking into the hostel is possible at any time after 2pm. You have until 11am to check out on the morning of departure.
Is there parking at Treehouse Hostel?
Unfortunately, there is no parking available on-site. However, if you are travelling by car, there are a few car parks nearby such as:
- Europark: Located a six-minute walk from the hostel.
- Automašīnu Stāvvieta: Also a six-minute walk from the hostel.
Is breakfast included at Treehouse Hostel in Riga?
No, breakfast is not included in the cost of your stay. Despite this, there are many places nearby where you can grab a bite to eat.
How much does it cost to stay at Treehouse Hostel?
This varies depending on the time of year, but beds start at £13 per night.
Are there any downsides to the hostel?
There is a nightclub located next door to the hostel. This means that in some rooms of the hostel, you can hear music playing into the early hours. However, it wasn’t too loud and I was still able to sleep well. This is just something to consider if you are a light sleeper and prefer total silence at night.
Also, in my opinion, the bathrooms could have been a little cleaner. While they weren’t bad at all, the grouting in the showers had definitely seen better days!

Overall, my experience of staying at the hostel was amazing and I’d 100% stay again. The location and hospitality of the staff make it one of the best hostels in Riga for sure! Consider staying here if you can on your trip to the Latvian capital.
