We are now two weeks into the new year and like many others, I have been thinking a lot about what I would like to achieve within the next year. I am a big believer that we should all set goals. Setting goals is important because it motivates us and gives us something to aim towards that will have a positive effect on our lives or help us grow as individuals.
Here are my goals for 2018:
To travel more within my own country
Travel has now become a big part of my life and I think it is fair to say that I have definitely caught the travel bug. However, I haven’t travelled much within the UK, instead choosing to jet of to countries overseas. This year, I have decided to make a conscious effort to explore more of my own country and I am so excited to do so.
To get out of debt
Okay so I will hold my hands up and admit that I should have done this already, but booking flights and creating amazing memories seemed way more fun than paying off my student overdraft. This year I vow to pay off all my current debts (well, except my unthinkable student loan) and start to put more money into savings.
To keep a gratitude journal
In the past, I have spoken about why we need to stop striving for perfection and comparing ourselves to others. Although I don’t tend to discuss it, I wrote that post because I always tend to focus on negative experiences and thoughts that pop into my head and this is something that I want to change.
After recently creating memory journals for my little sisters, I realised how much I have missed getting creative for myself and not just at work. This is why I have chosen to start keeping a weekly gratitude journal. I hope that this will help me focus on positivity and good experiences.
To sell at makers markets and open an Etsy shop
Selling at makers markets is something that I have wanted to do for quite a while, but struggled to find the time because I was always studying or working. This year, I want to spend more time getting creative outside of work and create handmade products to sell online and at makers markets in my hometown.
To blog at least once a week
Admittedly, I haven’t exactly stuck to a regular blogging schedule. However, my time has freed up a bit more recently and I have a lot of ideas for future blog posts that I am super excited about. I will be posting at least once a week if not more and I can’t wait to get more content out.
To learn a new language
As I have got older, I have regretted not paying attention in my language lessons in high school. I would love to travel to a country overseas and have the ability to converse with the locals and truly immerse myself in that countries culture.
To become more minimalist
In recent months, I have been looking a lot into minimalism and the benefits that it can have on your life and wellbeing. In an attempt to clear my mind and save more money, I have started to declutter my bedroom and vowed to stop buying into consumerism. I would rather spend my money on life-changing experiences over buying into the latest fashion trends or gadgets that I don’t need and won’t make me happy in the long run.
I would love to know what your goals are for 2018. Share them in the comments below!

Yes!! Something I’ve always wanted to do is see the other side of my country ☺️
Me too! Where are you from?
I’m waiting for the weather to get a bit warmer in the UK than I will be going on loads of day trips and weekends away ☺️
I’m from Canada!
Oh wow, that’s so cool! I love Canada. I went on a bit of a road trip there in 2015. It’s a beautiful country!
Have you travelled around Canada much? 🙂
That’s awesome! I’ve only been out East, as my family is from there.
Cool! I hope you get to travel more within Canada this year and have a great time ☺️
Love these goals! 🙂
Thank you very much ☺️
Great goals! I have recently started doing something called Miracle Morning, which has helped me with the struggle of not being a morning person! One of the things I do is write in a journal, it really does make a difference and help with having a positive mind set 🙂
Thanks! That sounds like something I need to do as I am definitely not a morning person! I’m going to look into it ☺️
